By the nearby lake of Chiusi you can visit the large nursery of F.lli Margheriti, among the largest in Italy with over 2600 Mediterranean plant varieties catalogued plus an imposing greenhouse of subtropical vegetation.

Castel Brio organizes guided tours for small groups of horticulture enthusiasts to the nurseries and private gardens in the area, both historic and modern such as: La Foce, the masterpiece of the London landscape designer Cecil Ross Pinsent (1924-39), Il Fienile, a large rose garden in Assisi (2001), a bush garden on the Trasimeno hills and some private gardens designed in the 1960s by Pietro Porcinai (1910-1986) the greatest Italian landscape designer of the second half of the twentieth century who was very fond of Umbria. Another feature is the Aquatic Garden on the Polvese Island on Lake Trasimeno, a futuristic work using a stone quarry and designed for the Milanese Count Giannino Citterio (1960).
